Hebrew 13:8, which says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today and forever,” means He is the same Life, the same Spirit with the same Message.
He was the same in the Jewish Setting; He was the same before He had a Jewish body. He is the same now. That is why He said, “Before Abraham was, I am.”
58 Jesus said unto them, Veryly, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
He was the same in John 1:1 as He was the same in John 1:14, “In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the word was God…” “And the word was made flesh.”
Those who believe that He is only a man, does not really know Him. They do not know that before He became a man, He was the Word. And being the Word, He was God. And what happened to the Word? The Word became man.
What is the yesterday of Jesus Christ? ‘Yesterday’ means, “In the beginning He was the Word…” and ‘today’ refers to His becoming a man, and ‘forever’ means that He went up and is in the position of the Father. Thus, we do not see Him anymore.
Now He is within me, He has chosen me as His Temple. The ‘ecclesia’ or the body is not a building or an institution, but it is the body that He has chosen to follow Him, that was able to pass the test and became the Son.
“Jesus Christ being the same yesterday, today, and forever,” means His teachings are the same. He taught repentance when He came as the Begotten Son in the Jewish Age. Today that He has a Gentile body, but His teaching of repentance remains the same.
