Hundreds of volunteers from the Sonshine Philippines Movement (SPM) participated in a back-to-back clean up drive held in the municipalities of Sta. Cruz and Digos, Davao del Sur on Saturday, July 13, 2019.
The local government of Sta. Cruz headed by Mayor Jaime Lao Jr. along with the local officials expressed their utmost thanks to Pastor Apollo Quiboloy for sending hundreds of his SPM volunteers to clean the coastal area of Mt. Apo Beach in Brgy. Zone III, one of the environmentally problematic areas in the municipality.
The volunteers dug and collected garbage in the beach coastline. In the end, they gathered 500 sacks of garbage. Mayor Lao and the residents were ecstatic and truly grateful for the help extended to them.
After the coastal clean-up, the volunteers then trooped to the Digos Public Market for another clean-up operation. There the volunteers cleaned up the debris of a fire that tore down a huge part of the Old Public Market in the city.
Officials from the local government were thankful to the Sonshine Philippines Movement and Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy for their huge effort in clearing up the fire debris. The stalls and the esteros that were left untouched by the vendors and owners, were also cleared by the volunteers. A total of 800 sacks of debris were collected during the clean-up drive.
SPM has been awarded and recognized by different local governments around the country for its many environmental programs and projects.
